The FIAT rosary
The FIAT rosary was welcomed by Veronica as a simple and effective prayer tool for families, prayer groups and teams of apostolate.
It offers us a time in the Upper Room to contemplate the life of Jesus with Mary.
Cardinal Danneels recognized the authenticity of the little rosary received by Veronica. Together with her, Cardinal Suenens wrote an introductory prayer – the FIAT prayer – to set us on our way to proclaiming the Good News.
The FIAT prayer is addressed to the Holy Spirit and invites us to walk with Mary in the footsteps of Jesus. Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort expresses it this way: ‘When the Holy Spirit, her Spouse, finds her in a soul, he flies to her, enters her fully, communicates himself to her abundantly and as much as she gives place to his Bride’ (True Devotion to God, no. 36). ‘When the Holy Spirit, her spouse, finds Mary in a soul, he hastens there and enters fully into it. He gives himself generously to that soul according to the place it has given to his spouse.’
How to pray the FIAT rosary?
We start with the Sign of the Cross, followed by the FIAT prayer:
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Grant that we may be inspired by the faith of our Baptism, nourished by the Eucharist, renewed in the grace of Pentecost,
Give us the power to be
inspired by the faith of our baptism
nourished by the Eucharist,
renewed in the grace of Pentecost,
To live, in word and deed,
always and everywhere,
as faithful witnesses of Christ and the Love of his divine Heart.
Amen.
Then we take time to reflect on our prayer intentions and close with the Our Father. prayer intentions, which we close with the Our Father.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Then we walk with Jesus and meditate on the mysteries of his life. Each mystery has three “Hail Mary’s” followed by "Joy and glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen”.
Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death. Amen.
