To understand the role and place of Mary in Veronica's spiritual life, we must keep in mind her constant desire to welcome Mary, not as a personal choice dictated by sentimental preferences, but simply out of obedience to God's plan. We are to receive Mary because God has given her to us, because she is willed by Him for the joy and happiness of humankind. \u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026 Christ always did the Father's will. With what love He entered the world by the path assigned to Him by His Father! We, His disciples, must not hesitate to adopt His sentiments towards Mary. Since it was God who chose her for His Son and for us, we do not have to choose her, but to receive her as our Mother. \u2026<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In her correspondence Veronica often writes about her \u2018union\u2019 with Mary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n ... \u00abI feel, in my soul,<\/em> was she writing, Mary of Thanksgiving. I ceaselessly thank the most Holy Trinity for what it has done for Mary: \u2026 By saying \u00abIn the name of the Father\u2026\u00bb I must do it calmly and with veneration. It is Mary who is greeting the Holy Trinity through me. While dealing with external matters and paying attention to conversations, I remain within myself, close to Mary and the Most Holy Trinity. \u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2026 Gradually, a shift took place in my relationship with the Most Holy Virgin. She is no longer there beside me, as if outside: instead of loving Her with all my strength, praying to Her, offering Her beauty and perfection to the Holy Trinity, I feel as though I am identified with Her. She seems to be in me and I in Her; we are united into a single being completely turned towards Jesus, towards the Holy Spirit, towards the Holy Trinity. ... How sweet and good is Mary, our well-beloved Mother; how she rewards us for the very least little gesture of trust in her way of acting towards us!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n She has the courage to make us climb the road to Calvary, often without a word of comfort and encouragement along the way, but if we show a little good will and courage, how quickly she hastens to lift the veil and let us catch a glimpse of the why and the wherefore of what is happening.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n When you have been at her school for a while, the supernatural world becomes so close to us. Sometimes it becomes so bright that I am often tempted to believe that I no longer have faith, because I see God's hand so clearly in the slightest little event of our daily life. \u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n ... When I recite the rosary \u2013 \u00abin\u00bb and \u00abwith\u00bb Mary \u2013 She takes hold of my prayer to transform it; I am like the steel point on a rotating record: the little needle is sharp and bad \u2013 that is me. But when it is plugged in and united with Mary, She is the one who sings like a \u00abprima donna\u00bb on the record of our rosary. Since then, I rarely think of Mary, but I am always very consciously with her, in a shared orientation towards God and towards all that is of God in heaven and on earth.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
